Description
Vibrations and waves on a string and in other media. Electromagnetic waves including optical phenomena such as refraction, interference and diffraction. Introduction to special relativity including time dilation, length contraction, simultaneity, Lorentz transforms and relativistic energy and momentum. Laws of thermodynamics, gas laws and heat engines. Students are encouraged but not required to take Math 2400 concurrently or in advance.
