Ningfeng Zhu, Ph.D. Candidate, along with colleagues working in the lab of Mark Devlin, Reese W. Flower Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics, published a study that "details the design and validation of the Large Aperture Telescope Receiver (LATR), the cryogenic camera that will be the 'heart' of the Simons Observatory Large Aperture Telescope" in The Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. The instrument detailed in the study will be capable of mapping "the sky four time faster than the current generation of instruments." Of the potential for such innovation, Zhu commented "We'll have a level of accuracy that's never been done before, and with this amount of accuracy there's a lot of science to be done."
