Penn Physics graduate student Garrett Goon has been awarded a SAS Dissertation Completion Fellowship for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Garrett has been working with Dr. Mark Trodden and his collaborators on the construction of new scalar field theories applicable to cosmology and connected to recently discovered theories of massive gravity. His extensive work has spanned the development of the theories, the understanding of their mathematical consistency, and the study of how the theories can be mathematically categorized. In the coming year he will focus on, among other things, the details of how such theories will be constrained by upcoming cosmological data.
