Physics Professor Wins Prestigious Award in Liquid Crystal Science
Congratulations to Professor Randall Kamien of the department of Physics and Astronomy on receiving the G.W. Gray Medal of the British Liquid Crystal Society. This is the Society's most distinguished prize and recognizes Prof. Kamien's many contributions to liquid crystal science.

Physics PhD candidate Rob Roy Fletcher teams with "hack" group to create a winning app. RAMEAR, the 1st place winning project of Penn's thirteenth Penn Apps, is designed to "listen your your computer's Ram (memory).

Jeffrey is a Machinist in David Rittenhouse Laboratory's Machine Shop. The Machine Shop's work ranges from custom scientific instrumentation to physical plant repairs, with particular expertise in machining for the physical sciences and engineering.

Women in Physics holds First Annual Lecture
The Women in Physics group hosted the widely successful event held in University of Pennsylvania's, Houston Hall which featured Professor Mildred Dressselhaus of MIT as its key speaker. Dresselhaus, the first female institute Professor at MIT partnered with the WIP group with the goal of inspiring other women to pursue a career in Physics and to seek out female Physics mentors.
